It’s another one of those nights.. I’m going to be up late because I haven’t finished my “to do” list from the day. Although it’s a long list, nothing on it is particularly imminent. That being said, instead of putting off the tasks till tomorrow I’ve decided to stay up and tackle them tonight.

Since I feel I have the ability to carry out my means in a leisurely manner, I decided to make some cookies to accompany the coffee I made to keep me awake. I had an extra jar of peanut butter, so I figured peanut butter cookies would be a good way to go.

I found a great recipe on the Martha Stewart site (It’s probably pretty clear by now that I’m a bit of a Martha fan). I followed the content list exactly except for substituting the 1/2 cup of brown sugar with oatmeal in order to up the fiber content and give it a bit more texture:

If only your personality were as great as as your lyricism. I first heard “Edge of Desire” on a rainy day while studying at my favorite coffee shop. I don’t if it was the song, the atmosphere, or some combination of both but there was something very lovely about it all. Definitely my favourite song from Battle Studies:

Morning Yoga

I discovered earlier this week that my gym offers yoga classes every saturday morning. This is perfect for me because as a result of my busy schedule this semester I’m finding it difficult to fit a yoga class in during the school week.

Last night I was determined to head to bed early to ensure that I would be able to wake up in time to attend the class. Unfortunately due to my own inability to manage my Friday night tasks I ended up going to sleep much later than I had intended.

I rolled out of bed this morning just in time to realize that the class had already begun.. and ended. I had really wanted to go to class this morning because I haven’t taken a class for about a month now. I’ve also heard from many sources about the benefits of sticking to a exercise routine during high stress periods (the onset of midterms and assignments began last week).

I then came to the conclusion that I should not to let a late start ruin the rest of what could be a great and productive Saturday. The first thing I did was have my own yoga session in the comfort of my room and as I knew it would, it gave me the momentum I needed to tackle the rest of my day.

I know that next saturday morning I will be more prepared to pull myself out of bed because the extremely rewarding feeling of going to class is always more than worth it.

Despite the fact that it’s much too cold to enjoy the weather outside, I feel unusually cheerful. It may have something to do with the fact that I’ve had Raphael Saadiq playing in the background all morning. It started with this video I received from my best friend:

Jack Johnson and The Perfect Pancake

Pancakes are awesome. Think about it: they provide the best excuse to have cake first thing in the morning. My latest cooking goal has been to master the perfect pancake. This entails making the batter from scratch and without the help of good old Aunt Jemimah. Instead I’ve enlisted the help of Martha Stewart.
